The policy allows an Arthur Cox employee who is a father, adopting parent, foster parent or same sex parent the opportunity to apply for fully paid leave after the birth of a child. This leave will be approved should the child’s mother opt to return to work to her place of employment prior to the end of her 26 weeks of maternity leave.
The policy has been launched as part of the Inclusion and Diversity programme in the firm, led by the firm‘s Diversity Partners, Grainne Hennessy and Geoff Moore, and is part of a series of steps to actively support diversity (gender, LGBT and ability) in the firm.
Speaking at the launch, Grainne Hennessy said that the purpose of the policy was to enable fathers to spend more time with their children when they are young, while also making it clear to women employees that the firm regards parenting as a shared responsibility.
